Fun with friends in Alaska!

Some of my dearest friends moved to Alaska last fall. Although we wished they lived in Fairbanks, having them in the same state as us is amazing! Josh and Mindy and I went to college together in Minnesota and I got to visit them while they were missionaries in Russia and Azerbaijan over the years. They have three adorable kids and live in Chugiak, a suburb of Anchorage, which is about a 6 hour drive from us (or a 1 hour flight). We have been blessed to hang out quite a few times over the past several months. I went down to spend 4 days with them last week and we had a blast!

Here are some pics of our adventures together:

Mindy and the kids and I went on this little hike (a mile each way)
Crazy Micah-moo!
And they're off! They had fun finding inch worms along the way!
He wasn't too happy to fall into this ravine!
Pretty view from hiking path

Cute Acacia with her one missing bottom tooth!
The kids having fun on their trampoline in their backyard

Josh is a children's pastor and has Fridays off. All of us went on a long 3 hour hike up "Mt. Baldy" on Friday with Mindy's sister and her boyfriend. The kids were troopers and made it the whole way (Micah had some assistance from Mom and Dad). The girls did amazing and didn't complain at all!

Mt. Baldy - view from a road in Eagle River - we hiked to the top!

Cute Acacia and Elesheva
Adorable Acacia
Beautiful Elesheva - I can't believe she's almost 10!
View from the top - isn't Alaska incredibly beautiful?!
The Tiner family (minus Acacia) with a tired Micah at the summit
Great friends enjoying a gorgeous day!
I made it - preggo and all!

A very worn out Micah after the hike!

My love flew down to Anchorage on Saturday and we enjoyed spending some time together down there with the Tiner family. We coordinated 10 friends from Fairbanks to drive vehicles back for us that he bought down there then we got to have a fun date! We went to our favorite cheap movie theater in Anchorage (Bear Tooth) and saw Soul Survivor, the movie about the surfer Bethany Hamilton. It was excellent and so was the chicken ranch pizza we ate during the movie! We enjoyed a game of Settlers Saturday night (I won, amazing!) and drove back home on Sunday morning together. Overall, it was a great week/weekend and I had a lot of fun! I love having good friends in the same state as us!
