The latest...

I figured I'd post an update on what's happening with me health-wise. I'm so grateful for everyone's concern and prayers as we've encountered some unexpected hiccups at this stage of the pregnancy!

I was scheduled to see my OB tomorrow morning for a check up from the cervix surgery and see if I had to continue on modified bedrest. I woke up this morning with moderate abdominal and middle back pain. It came and went for a bit but got a lot stronger by 8:30am, the pain making it hard to breathe. I called my doctor's office and they told me to come in this morning. My OB checked everything and it all looks good. Bobo's heartbeat and my blood pressure are all normal. The stitches are holding and my cervix is closed.  Dr. L doesn't have an explanation for the abdominal and back pain but wasn't too worried about it. He said it could be non-pregnancy related and possibly something intestinal. It's possible Bobo or the uterus is pushing or pinching on something, causing grief. The pain has continued to come and go today, varying in severity level. Oh the joys of weird symptoms while pregnant!

I ended up doing my glucose test today for gestational diabetes. If that comes back normal tomorrow (which hopefully it does!), I will be getting a betamethasone steroid shot which will help Bobo's lungs develop better if he happens to come out early. It's basically a precaution in case I have a pre-term labor (which we're praying I don't!). I had a corticosteroid injection (which this is similar to) in 2008 for neck pain from a car accident and had a bad reaction to it. I had 10 days of "steroid induced pyschosis", it was NOT fun! I am obviously quite leary of having a shot like this again. However, it's not guaranteed I'll have the same reaction as last time AND this seems to be in the best interest for Bobo if he were to be born early. I guess my attitude is "well, if it happens, I'm just taking one for the team!".  I already love our son so much and want to do what is best for him, even if it means going through some temporary discomfort (or insanity!). We definitely covet your prayers for this, that I wouldn't have any reaction to the shot and that Bobo continues to stay inside the womb to cook longer! I'm currently at 28 weeks and 3 days.

The best news of the day is I'M OFF BEDREST!!!  The ironic thing is that I felt pretty good while on bedrest and wanted to be up and do stuff. Now that I'm free from bedrest, I feel pretty yucky and just want to rest and lay around! Please pray that this pain will go away and I'll be able to resume some normal activities, like cooking a meal and cleaning up a bit around the house. Don't worry, I won't overdo it! I will listen to my body and rest as needed.

Thanks so much for your support and prayers, you all mean so much to us!

Love,
J, P and Bobo
